Much
of my first three CDs were songs I wrote on guitar over 40
years ago and never played until now. No one ever expressed an
interest in performing them with me. I believe it’s just as
well. Now I get to hear them the way they should’ve been
played.
The later, more recent compositions tend to be more complex
and, for lack of a better adjective, a bit creepier. The
production values also advance radically with the more recent
releases.
In most of my
compositions, typically harmony gives way to a certain level of what may be perceived as
discord, with nonsense handing
itself back over to logic. Much of which yielding to a
somewhat eerie energy. Most of my work spends much of its
playing time in the minor keys and the darker realms of
melody. (I have always said that some of us just like the
black keys better.)
As I no longer play
much on traditional instruments, most of what you'll hear is
digitally rendered. And although it could be considered
"electronic music" it's not written by computer,
it's written by me. With notes on a staff - the way it's
always been done. Where digital audio factors in is the
ability to determine by which method and means a note will be
produced. Some of the sounds are synthesized, some are sampled
recordings of live orchestral instruments, some are
traditional electric guitar and drums.
I sincerely hope you will enjoy some of what you hear.
About Eerie
Sunday...
My label, Eerie Sunday, was conceived on a strange
Sunday afternoon when I was young, structured and executed on
a strange Sunday afternoon several Novembers ago, and
rearranged to the current entity on what was the strangest
Sunday afternoon of all.
About the Shadowfire Project...
This link will take you to a full online version of an
"extended short story" (or novella) I wrote in 1996.
My story had the dubious distinction of having been the very
first online comic (I preferred "graphic novel"),
with episodes uploaded weekly. Demand for my time made it
impossible to finish the project in an illustrated form and I
now only offer it in text.
